St. Mary's Aston Bell Tower

Aston church small icon

The tower is square with buttresses to give extra stability. The belfry windows are really 'sound holes' filled with louvres which allow the sound of the bells to radiate.

The tower like the nave has embattled parapets.

The mouldings of the tower arch and the plinth at Aston are similar to those at Knebworth.  The same moulding can also be found in the towers at Codicote, Willian and Great Wymondley.
