After reading ‘Ten’ by John Pritchard Rev. Jenny was prompted to make her own lists of ‘Ten’.
What would be on your list?....

 1. Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday use up eggs and fats before the Lent fast (diet) begins on Ash Wednesday. Sugar and lemon are the sweetness and sadness of life.

 2. Pretzels are ‘Lent bread’ ... like arms folded in prayer

 Rimmel Cake

 3. Simmnel Cake on Mothering Sunday for Jesus’ 12 disciples (friends)

 4. Hot Cross Buns because Jesus dies on Good Friday on the cross

 hot cross buns

 Easter egg

 5. Easter Eggs for new life because the tomb is empty and Jesus is alive... touch and see

6. Ash Wednesday reminds us death comes to all: 'from dust ye come, to dust ye shall return...’

 7. Mothering Sunday daffodils are signs of God’s ‘Mothering’ love

 8. Palm Sunday Palm crosses remind us who we follow... who we trust

 Palm Sunday

 9. Nails on Good Friday recall the hurts we carry, the hurt we do to others

 10. Holy water sprinkled on us on Easter day reminds us of baptism and new life

clipart- because 14th February is Valentine’s Day.  And ‘God is love.  Those who live in love live in God and God lives in them’ (1 John  4:16)
is my ‘faith in a nutshell’ bible verse.

Read the 10 again replacing the word love with YOUR name to see how you measure up.

  1. Love is patient …
  2. Love is kind …

  3. Love is not envious ...
  4. Love is not boastful or arrogant …
  5. Love is not rude ...
  6. Love does not insist on its own way ...
  7. Love is not irritable or resentful ...
  8. Love trusts...
  9. Love hopes...
  10. Love never ends ... never gives up

Note: This 10 is based on St Paul’s first letter to the people of Corinth chapter 13 verses 4-7 and 13.

Read the 10 again replacing the word love with JESUS...and finally with GOD.
Love is spelt RISK. ‘If you love, they’ll crucify you. If you don’t love you’re dead anyway’.
